ARCHIE HASTE

I am a product and furniture designer based in London, UK. My practice is grounded in utilitarian principles, prioritising functionality through simplicity. I adopt a hands-on approach to design, exploring material qualities and refining concepts through prototyping. I have developed strong practical skills in woodworking and metalworking, along with experience in CAD programs and 3D printing, I bring an iterative, maker-driven process to all of my work.

TOLLO CHAIR

A domestic side chair that can be disassembled into individual parts for storage in a handheld box. The design explores structural forms to achieve stability from disassembled parts, resulting in a bolted frame that celebrates self-assembly.

FOLD SHELVING SYSTEM

A domestic system-based storage solution based around a pair of modular sheet aluminium brackets that can be stacked to produce a range of archetypal furniture, shelving, sideboards and bookcases.

COAT HOOKS

The project’s focus was to create a collection of products made from waste materials. The collection of hooks was developed from waste material from the home and from the workshop, using offcuts and waste packaging.

ISHINOMAKI BAR STOOL

A project influenced by the Ishinomaki Laboratory, Japan. This project was an investigation into structure, looking to design a piece of furniture using nothing but screws and standard sections of timber and the restriction of accessible making methods.

The Pinch Stool was designed and made as part of a group two-day project to practice construction techniques. A very minimalistic stool or side table, with a delicate appearance.

MODULAR STORAGE

Modular Storage is my design response to a live brief working with John Lewis and Dulux. The set of modular storage drawers is designed for those working remotely from home, post covid. Modular Storage bridges this gap between homeware and office furniture. Taking the comfort and aesthetics of homeware and pairing it with the functionality and practical nature of the office.
