ARCHIE HASTE

I am a product and furniture designer based in London, UK. My practice is grounded in utilitarian principles, prioritising functionality through simplicity. I adopt a hands-on approach to design, exploring material qualities and refining concepts through prototyping. I have developed strong practical skills in woodworking and metalworking, along with experience in CAD programs and 3D printing, I bring an iterative, maker-driven process to all of my work.

PINCH STOOL

PINCH STOOL

The Pinch Stool was designed and made as part of a group two-day project to practice construction techniques. A very minimalistic stool or side table, with a delicate appearance.

The stool supports a round plywood top with a set of three beech legs. The legs sit flush with the top and slot into cutouts on the stool’s plywood top.

The stool was developed from left over timber, opting to go with creating a round seat top. However we wanted to still celebrate the joining of the legs in a visible way, having that joint be highlighted visually across the stool. The stool is joined using a series of domino joints and then finished in a clear matte varnish.
