COAT HOOK

The project’s focus was to create a collection of products made from waste materials. The collection of hooks was developed from waste material from the home and from the workshop, using offcuts and waste packaging. The hooks base is constructed from a block of scrap ash. The block has a 45 degree hole through it in which the rod sits in.  The fixing for the hook is hidden behind the rod, keeping its appearance small and minimal.

The hooks uses a cantilever to support itself upright. The rod sits loosely in the wood with no adhesive and uses its leveraged angled cut to support itself against the wall. This not only allows it to hold the rod in place but also takes far more weight without the need for an adhesive to hold the product together.
